Fall 2013 CAS, CEC & Stempel Faculty Mentor Orientations
|Venue:||AHC-4, Room 402, MMC|
The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at FIU, in partnership with the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC), is proud to launch the third year of its Faculty Mentor Program for 2013-2014. Last year, the Faculty Mentoring program had more than 100 participants. We invite you to join this popular program.
The Faculty Mentor Program is aimed primarily at providing tenure-earning assistant professors with a faculty mentor from outside of his/her home department. To the extent possible, we will also attempt to provide a mentor or mentoring opportunities for Associate Professors and Instructors. Participants agree to attend one Orientation session and to meet one-on-one with their mentor/mentee at least once a semester. In addition, a variety of events and workshops will be held over the course of the academic year to promote the mentor-mentee relationship and to facilitate mentee’s careers. A new feature of the Faculty Mentor Program this year is our collaboration with the Division of Research that will serve to bring additional speakers, workshops, and opportunities concerning how to obtain external funding.
Please let us know your availability for one of the three Orientation Sessions that will be held on:
Tuesday, Sept. 17 and Wednesday, Sept. 18, both from 3:30-5pm in AHC-4, Room 402, MMC
Thursday, Sept. 19 from 3:30-5pm in Room 2300, Engineering Campus.
