Mentor Orientations

In its second year, the Faculty Mentor Program, sponsored by the College of Arts & Sciences, has expanded and is now working with the College of Engineering & Computing faculty.

At the present time, the CAS/CEC Faculty Mentor Program has paired 50 interested Assistant Professor mentees with 48 Associate or Full Professor mentors in CAS and CEC. Mentees were deliberately paired with mentors from different departments to complement existing within-department mentoring relationships. Pairs were matched based on shared research interests or disciplinary demands to the extent possible given the pool of volunteers. Participants in the 2012-2013 CAS/CEC Faculty Mentor Program represent all departments.

Each mentee was paired with someone outside her or his department but in a related research area, and pairs hope to meet at least twice each semester.

The Orientation Workshops were held on September 18-19, 2012 at the College of Arts & Sciences and on September 20, 2012 at the College of Engineering & Computing.
